Electrical Safety- can some one afford to ignore??

Cables laid in open and have joints:

A very common scene is we come across cables in pathways or from sides of walkways.
At some places this wire or cable has joints too. There is a common tendency that when production suffers, the time given is so less to fix the problem and rectify it. In order to finish the job quickly, electrician tend to do lay the cable without giving it sufficient height, or cover in a conduit or other safety measures. Many times cable or wire is short and they also join a piece to it ..may use insulation tape if available else may also leave it as it is. Not necessary to tell anyone what accidents it may cause.

Take oversize MCB or MCCB
Very common to use oversize MCB and many time tripping do not occur but damage the equipment.

Earthing not exist or never Checked

On many places either there is no earthing ( grounding ) protection taken, and at some places earthing was done years ago with common salt and charcoal surrounding a GI plate. There are instances when such earhings were checked even after 4-5 years of installation, the connection strip found badly corroded or severely damaged plate. It is not hard to imagine what may be the scenes of a 10-15 years old plate earthing given water so frequently.

It is recommended now a days that round pipe earthing that installed with encasing backfill compound give much longer life, require less watering and give better results longer and found safe. The only thing that must be ensured while purchasing such earthing is that it is supplied through a genuine supplier, has adequate thickness ( 2-3 mm) and good quality of hot dip galvanizing to have a good life in corroding environment.

NO ELCB/RCCB

RCCB /ELCB are synonyms ( Residual Current Circuit Breaker or Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker). As per recommendations, necessary in every household but rarely installed. It can prevent all types of electrocutions or ground faults and may fire accidents can be prevented.
