GI Chemical Earthing Installation Instruction
Please premix the backfill compound with clean water before filling it into the augured hole. The hole diameter should not be less than 8 inches for proper installation and effective earthing. Ensure the mixture is consistent and lump-free to allow better compaction and contact with the electrode. Use adequate quantity of water depending on site conditions to achieve a slurry-like consistency.
Coordinate with the site owner or site in-charge before starting the digging work. This helps in identifying and avoiding damage to existing underground services such as telecom lines, LT/HT electrical cables, fiber optic cables, sewerage pipelines, and water supply lines. Marking and mapping underground utilities in advance is always recommended. Use cable locators or available site drawings for extra caution.
A minimum interfering hemisphere of 2 meters, preferably equal to the length of the earthing pipe, should be maintained with natural soil (mother earth) surrounding the electrode. This helps achieve low resistance and reliable grounding. Avoid loose or refilled soil. Maintain a safe distance from sewerage systems, building basements, and waterlogged areas. Avoid installation near tree roots or unstable ground to prevent future damage.
Manual digging should be done by unskilled laborers under supervision. However, in factory areas where high-voltage systems, chemicals, fuel, or explosives are present, strict safety norms must be followed. The customer-side safety in-charge must supervise the installation work. Use proper PPE and tools for safe execution. Ensure workers are aware of basic safety precautions and follow site-specific safety instructions without fail.
Safety - Precautions
1. Ensure no electrical, water , telecom or sewerage line below the site given for excavation. The manual work by labour to dig the hole involve sharp tools which may cut the cables and damage the pipe lines which may harm or cause civil liability.
2 Ensure availability of water at the site required for premixing.
3. Pl inform if the mother soil is not available without using machine work like in the case of road, RCC or Pucca floor where we want to install the earthing.
